Already in our 6th year, it is wonderful to see how much we have accomplished! What started as a small, local organization has now flourished into 3 powerful programs reaching across the US and beyond.
Let’s look back at 2011…
IAPW Youth Ambassadors made a difference.
With new Youth Ambassadors, Kassandra & Albert taking the lead, IAPW helped to restore the teaching garden at Daniel Webster Middle School in Los Angeles.
We broke new ground.
Through our REACH program IAPW funded our first 2 schools in Nicaragua. Based in the rural communities of Dulce Nombre & El Coyolar, the IAPW funded schools replaced existing school structures that were overflowing. Students won’t have to drop out of school or walk to a distant school to continue past 4th grade (in Dulce Nombre) or the 2nd year of secondary school (in El Coyolar). The new schools will also allow teachers to divide the students by grade level, instead of teaching 2-4 grades together in one room.
We closed the gap.
- Through our Giving Tree program, IAPW funded over 75 classroom projects in Los Angeles high-poverty schools, bringing resources to over 6,000 students.
- Check out our Donor Profile which captures in real time all the projects that IAPW has supported.
- IAPW is proud to continue this work so that we can close the achievement gap in public education.
IAPW teens run for a cause!
Despite the terrible weather, IAPW youth ambassadors Kassandra, Albert & Anthony ran the 5k as part of LA’s marathon in the Spring. Albert placed 79th overall, Kassandra 435th & Anthony 467th out of a field of 2659 finishers!
We were honored.
IAPW continued to receive positive reviews for our dedication and service, earning a 5-star rating from GreatNonProfits
